What a privilege it is to be overwhelmed by a life I once prayed for.
There is a unique type of exhaustion that settles in right after high school ends.
The quiet aftermath of graduation leaves a bedroom full of taped-up boxes, forgotten class notes, and a fresh certificate that feels more like a dream than real life. Outside, the world moves forward at a terrifying pace. You feel your chest tighten when faced with the endless choices, and every well-meaning question about “what comes next” brings a sudden, sharp urge to hide. It is easy to call this feeling pure anxiety, stress, or dread. But if you change the lens through which you view this panic, everything shifts. Years ago, the future wasn’t something to plan for; it was an abstract concept, an impossible horizon. Back then, simply making it to eighteen felt like an unachievable milestone. Standing in quiet classrooms or staring at the ceiling late at night, the idea of graduating, turning eighteen, or choosing a life path felt completely out of reach. The story felt as though it would end long before it ever had a chance to truly begin. To stand here now, completely consumed by the choices ahead, is an extraordinary privilege; because it means there is a next. The very things causing panic today: picking a path, leaving the familiar behind, holding onto fragile friendships, stepping into the unknown, these are the exact burdens I once prayed to be worthy of carrying. This weight isn’t a sign of failure, but a reflection of strength and a living, breathing reminder that God heard my desperate cry for a way out and he transformed my frantic prayers for survival into a bright, living tomorrow.
So whilst the uncertainty remains, the road ahead is steep, and the fear of stepping into it is real, I am reminded that God’s faithfulness has never once fallen short and He will not leave me to walk this new path alone.
